Cambrian (Period)

The Cambrian is the first subdivision of the Palaeozoic Era (542±1.0 to 448.3±1.7 Ma). Adam Sedgwick (22 March 1785 – 27 January 1873) first proposed the Cambrian period of the geological timescale. The name is derived from the word “Cambria”, the Latin for Wales, where some of the best rock exposures for the Cambrian in Britain are exposed.
