Climatic gradient

A description of the relative difference between equatorial and polar climates (e.g. differences in temperature and precipitation). Under a higher climatic gradient, polar and equatorial conditions are dramatically different – the Recent climatic gradient, including ice caps at both poles, is very high. Global hothouse climates typically induce lower climatic gradients, and icehouse climates greater climatic gradients.
