Alexander von Humboldt

Alexander von Humboldt (September 14, 1769 – May 6, 1859) was a German geographer, naturalist and explorer. He contributed to a wide range of disciplines, including the study of volcanoes and Earth’s magnetic field, and during his travels around South America he discovered numerous species and geographical features that were previously unknown to Europeans.
